The colon is the last part of the digestive tract. It is the place where the body removes solid waste, water and salts and is the site in fermentation of unabsorbed material occurs. Cleansing the colon is a great way of detoxifying the body. Many toxins deposit in the body over a period of time. The chemical processes by which the body operates creates toxic waste products which are swept away by the circulatory and lymphatic systems and ultimately eliminated. Over time these toxins which are not removed in the process get collected in the tissues of the body. The average person is carrying around 5 to 25 pounds of compacted fecal matter in their colons.
Many of the contaminants assaulting us daily include air pollution, poor water quality, chemicals, pesticides, steroids and hormones in our food, medication and processed food filled with preservatives.
The liver, as a by-product of metabolism may have created these toxins and not removed them. Toxins can collect during the transportation and filtration process in the kidneys, blood stream or lymphatic system. Also, poor circulation and gravity can cause toxins collecting in the feet.
Meditation is a wonderful tool to de-stress. It has many advantages–it does not cost any money, requires no special equipment, and, unlike medications, has no harmful side effects. And the best advantage is that it can be done anytime and anywhere.
That is particularly important now that we are living in times of fear and uncertainty. Many of us are experiencing difficulty and wrenching change. While you may not be able to control external events, you can control your reactions. The deceptively simple techniques of meditation are a powerful way to gain control of your emotions to help you cope. People in very difficult conditions such as prison report using meditation to successfully help them cope with the pressure and the chaos.
When you meditate you breath deeply to fill your lungs with air. Then as you breathe out slowly, your lungs empty. Simply sit in a still position or lie down if you do not think you will fall asleep and begin the deep breathing as you empty your mind.
You must practice excellent oral hygiene when trying to prevent and/or eliminate tonsilloliths. This means obviously brushing, flossing and using mouthwash on a daily basis. Your mouthwash should be sugar free and alcohol free. It has not been proven that poor oral hygiene can cause tonsil stones. But, it has been proven that maintaining good oral hygiene can help to stop or at least control the problem if you are already suffering from tonsil stones.
A well known remedy for killing bacteria in the mouth is gargling with salt water. This is also very good for the gums. If your tonsilloliths are in the early stages of formation you may be able to cure them by doing this. Gargling the salt water may also relieve some of the discomfort or pain caused by the condition.
If you can handle the gag reflex than you may be able to remove the tonsil stones yourself. You could try to brush them away with your toothbrush. But be careful not to use to much force. You do not want to cause pain or bleeding. Be sure to rinse with antiseptic afterward if you decide to try this to prevent further infection.
Unfortunately, sometimes gargling and brushing does not clear up the problem. Treatment from a doctor may be necessary. Most of the time a doctor will suggest surgery if the methods above have not worked for you. Having your tonsil removed will prevent debris from accumulating in the back of your throat. This is obviously a drastic solution and should only be used when all other methods have failed.
Suffering from tonsilloliths can really make ones life miserable. If you have tried all the above suggestions and just can not seem to find relief from your tonsil stones than your condition may be more severe than the typical case.
