Drug addiction is a state where an individual is completely captivated with drugs throughout the day. Drug addictions can be treated and ended in the initial as well as in the latter stages. There are broadly two types of programs to cure drug addictions. Inpatient and outpatient programs are done to get an individual out of drug addiction. There is a lot of difference between both methods of treatment. The program decided upon depends on the mental behavior and the physical condition of the drug addict.

For an Inpatient drug rehab treatment the person has to stay at the rehab, where he will be observed and supervised throughout the day and night. There will be physical exercise, detoxification, courses and diet, all backed with counseling at the rehab. The individual has to stay at the rehab through the entire course of the program.

In the outpatient program an individual would not be required to stay at the rehab while getting treated. He only needs to come in a few hours in a day or a week. Usually, these individuals are easy to handle and are not a threat to the society, with respect to their behavior. Most of them taking outpatient courses are in the initial stage of their addiction.

Outpatient drug rehab does only require monitoring an individual from time to time. A few hours a week are all it takes to treat them. These individuals have a very minimal or easy to handle addiction to drugs. Most of these individuals are responsive and understand the course very well. They need to be given proper counseling to get rid of their drug addictions.

Inpatient drug rehab process involves personal attention by professionals. These individuals can be very low on response and sometime have a tendency of self-destruction. They might physically hurt others or themselves and hence, need to be looked after at a regular interval.

Inpatient treatment involves the concerned person to stay at the rehab, until satisfactory results are achieved. Their physical condition can also be very difficult to deal with. These kinds of personalities have mostly been on heavy drugs and at the peak of their addiction.

Those who are under outpatient drug rehab treatment can do all the things that a normal human being does, when he is not in the rehab. During their few hours of treatment they are closely observed and then treated accordingly.
